Lichfield Postpones Folk Festival

To everyone intending to come to the Lichfield Folk Festival,

In view of the lockdown and other factors caused by the Corona virus outbreak, the committee has decided that we cannot run the Lichfield Folk Festival in 2020. We will therefore postpone it until next year, and full details are below. On the bright side, in the (unlikely) event that lockdowns are lifted in time and the school venue re-opens, we will try to hold a big dance that weekend, as best as we can do at short notice.

However, we need to plan realistically. We intend to transfer the whole Festival with current programming and artists to 18th - 20th June next year, 2021, and we know that many of you will want to come then. Most of the callers and bands have already confirmed that they can come in 2021; we are just awaiting final responses.

For those of you who have already booked, we will retain your ticket money for 2021, alternatively you can apply for a full refund, to

but please bear in mind that we do not have an account through which BACS payments can be made, so we would need to wait until we are able to send cheques.

If your booking is relatively recent and your cheque has not been cashed, please let us know if you would like us to retain the money for next year or rip up the cheque.

We will maintain the 2020 ticket prices into 2021 for all those who have booked already. 2021 ticket prices will not be announced until the New Year.

We hope you are in good health and stay that way!

Prescribe dance instead of drugs GPs are advised by health chiefs.  Family doctors are being urged to take up "social prescribing" after research found it cut GP visits and trips to A & E units by more than a quarter.

Band workshops

Lichfield Folk Festival's base plus its adjacent caravan site are located on Borrowcop Hill, which is one of three, which overlook this attractive cathedral city .The camp site itself is adjacent to the extensive playing fields of the old King Edward VI Grammar School. As such, it offers a near rural setting, within the city, on its south side, and faces towards the vale of the river Trent.

the Price of Tickets for individual events are posted on the Notes page

There's plenty to see in Lichfield and Staffordshire: plus Cannock Chase and Shugborough Hall too.

All dances and workshops have a caller to teach the dances.

If you have any suggestions for the improvement of our future festivals please let Freddie have them.
Last year's comments were very helpful!

Free Car Parking

There will be plenty of car-parking - please note that no car park barriers will come down during the Festival (except to secure the camp-site at night), so you can use any of the car parks without fear of being stranded.
